May 9th — Arts Festival & Launch Party

thornst_backroom_t500x333 Join us at Thorn Street Brewery on Thursday, May 9th at 7pm for our first arts festival and series launch party. We will offer generative prompts to spark your creative impulses as well as feature creations by local artists, including photography by artist Joe Baker.

Our theme for this event is “The Body,” and we invite you to interpret it creatively. This theme is intended to inspire, not confine. Use your imagination to stretch the meaning of what a body can be. Sink into the raw physicality of body or soar on the wild ethereal imagination that exists within body. Perform, paint, write, or play with anything beyond or in between.

As with each event, we invite you to submit the work you generate or share with us to be considered for our quarterly chapbook.

Chapbook Submission Guidelines:

• Bring a hardcopy representation of your creation (a typed copy of your poem, short story, or play, the musical score of your song, a photocopy of your photograph or painting—be creative).

• We are also open to digital sound recordings for our website, so bring your cd’s too.

• Please keep your  submission to the equivalent of one page. Don’t forget to put your name and contact info on your submission.

• The Verge’s first chapbook, comprised of work submitted by you our attendees and fellow artists, will be presented at our second Quarterly Arts Festival, August 29th, 2013. Mark your calendars and come see what collaborative arts can conjure.

We can’t wait to be inspired and surprised by what you bring to share.
